The awarded project “Heritage Teaching” (ER52) is now officially launched and will be implemented by four partners, the Union of Setomaa and Seto Institute Foundation from Estonia, Administration of Pechory District and Seto Ethnocultural Society from Russia.
The Project “Improving cooperation between local authorities, schools and NGO’s in teaching and promotion of local cultural heritage to children and youngsters in historical Setomaa area“ coming under Thematic Objective (TO) 5 will focus on introducing old traditions, customs and language in schools locating in historical Setomaa territory, which covers some border areas of Estonia and Russia.
In the frame of the two year project partners will organize celebration of religious and traditional holidays, ensure obtaining knowledge about food and handicraft traditions, old games, singing (seto leelo) and dancing traditions. Additionally attractive heritage teaching programme will be created for applying in Setomaa schools.
All these activities will encourage local youngsters to keep traditions and customs of Setomaa and strong cooperation network between municipalities, schools and local communities.
The project overall budget is 166 500 EUR which includes Programme co-financing in the amount of 149 850 EUR.
