Estonian EU external border programme

The awarded project ER101 “Raising Environmental Awareness in Estonian-Russian Border Area” (GreenMind) (Project) is officially launched from 1st of August and will be implemented by four partners: Pskov regional public organization “Lake Peipsi Project (Pskov)”, the state budgetary institution of additional education of the Pskov region «Pskov regional center of the development of gifted children and youth» (Russia) and NGO Peipsi Center for Transboundary Cooperation, Foundation Tartu Environmental Education Centre (Estonia).

The project will contribute to increasing of public green minding to create environmentally-oriented, energy-efficient and attractive living conditions and recreation in the region of transboundary Peipsi/ Chudskoye Lake.

To raise environmental awareness of local inhabitants fragmented eco-education and awareness initiatives, programs and materials will be capitalized in the region. Environmental awareness serves as an essential tool to shape people’s behaviour. This is an educational instrument that helps to understand social, economic and biological interdependences, to understand the consequences of human activities on ecosystems and to identify remedial solutions.

Also practical methodological and interactive educational toolkits will be produced for educational institutions, children and wide public to teach nature friendly patterns of behaviour.

The project will be implemented in the course of 30 months and supported by the overall budget EUR 495 440 which includes Programme co-financing in the amount of EUR 445 896.
