Estonian EU external border programme

Second project awarded within the 3rd Call for proposals “Improving cooperation in the area of orienteering” – ICOR (ER158) is launched on 1 January 2021 and will be implemented by two partners: Orienteering Club Põlva Kobras NGO (Estonia) and Pskov regional public organization “Federation of orienteering, Sports for Persons with Physical Impairment” (Russia).

Year-long project contributes to improvement of physical activity and health of people in the border regions and it will introduce different disciplines of orienteering to increase the popularity of this sport.

ICOR will establish a tradition of joint orienteering competitions in Russia and in Estonia, which have never been held together. During joint events participants’ language skills and knowledge about culture will be enhanced.

New experience for orienteers will be combining trainings with activities on cleaning up dumped waste in the forest. 

To make competitions and trainings more interesting and challenging, new orienteering maps will be created on the basis of the digitally scanned ground material and additional orienteering equipment will be purchased.

The project overall budget is EUR 88 801,89 which includes Programme co-financing in the amount of EUR 79 921,69.

Project is supported under Programme Thematic Objective 5 – Support to local and regional good governance.
