Estonian EU external border programme

The awarded project “Promoting healthy lifestyles – HEALTHY” (ER-78) is now officially launched and will be implemented by 5 partners: Setomaa Municipality Government; Värska Orienteering Club Peko; Räpina Rural Municipality; Räpina Sports Club and Department of Physical Training, Sports and for Youth Affairs of the Pskov City Administration.

Five more organizations are involved in project implementation as associated partners: Department of welfare projects «Healthy City»,  Municipal budgetary institution of additional education “Children and Youth Sports School “Strela”,  Municipal budgetary institution of additional education “Children and Youth Sports School “Nika “,  Municipal budget institution of additional education “Children and youth sports school “Master” of the Pskov City Administration and Põlva County Sport Association.

The Project coming under Thematic Objective (TO) 5 “Support to local and regional good governance” will focus on the improvement of co-operation between local and regional authorities and their sub-units in order to promote healthy lifestyle among population in border areas of Estonia and Russia.
Specific objective of the Project is to widen availability of sporting and recreational opportunities and facilitate related people-to-people cooperation for local population and tourists in border areas of Estonia and Russia.

Within the course of 24 months the number of new solutions and studies will be developed jointly by Project partners, including:

  • youth exchange visits between Estonia and Russia for joint physical training and sport events;
  • local physical training and sports events and services for local population and tourists in Värska, Räpina and Pskov;
  • development of new routes-trails in cross-border approach between Estonia and Russia, including routes for biking from Pskov to Räpina and trails for walking from Pechory to Värska;
  • development of chip-based point collection system both in Estonia and Russia.

The project overall budget is EUR 150 750,00 which includes Programme co-financing in the amount of EUR 135 675,00.
