Estonian EU external border programme

On December 27, representatives of partner organizations of the Large infrastructure project (LIP) “Common Peipsi 2” (ER2), Joint Technical Secretariat of Estonia-Russia CBC Programme, contractors and local residents took part in opening of water treatment station in Cheryokha village, Pskov district, Russia.

The ceremony was held at the construction site on one of the last working days of the year 2019, when the stage of construction and installation of equipment was completed. In January 2020, a set of works will be carried out to launch the equipment, check the operation of the whole system, and then around 2000 inhabitants in Cheryokha will be supplied with clean water from the new station.

As the head of Committee for economic development and investment policy of the Pskov region Mr Andrey Mikheyev has noted this station is an excellent example of consistent cooperation in the framework of cross-border projects. Technical documentation of new water treatment station was prepared as part of the previous project of Estonia-Latvia-Russia CBC Programme, while the construction is completed this year at the next stage of cooperation within Estonia-Russia Programme.

Water treatment station is the first significant result of this project. The new results on Estonian and Russian side of LIP “Common Peipsi 2” are awaited next year.

The project overall budget is EUR 5 199 139 which includes Programme co-financing in the amount of EUR 4 256 923,73.
