Water Management of the Narva River: harmonization and sustention

Project will provide sufficient contribution to the overall good status of the Baltic Sea

Specific objectives:

• Narva river joint water assets effective management
• Raising awareness and increasing cooperation in the field of environmental protection
• The fulfillment by Russia and Estonia of International obligations (Est-Rus JC, HELCOM) in achieving a healthy environment the Gulf of Finland of the Baltic Sea

Main activities:

• Elaboration of harmonized method for the Narva river runoff estimation
• Development of joint method for calculating annual nutrient load with the Narva river flow
• Elaboration of joint complex index for water quality assessment
• Development of a joint quantification method for determining the share contribution from Estonia-Russia territory in the total nutrient load and recommendations for its possible reduction
• Increasing of environmental awareness and cooperation
